Selling the company you built is a major decision.
It is financial. But it is also personal — for you, your family, your employees, and your community. We have been there ourselves, and we have brought that with us into Formverk.
Three things that often set us apart from other buyers.
The team is the foundation of our investment.
We buy companies to develop them, not to cut costs. The team is often the most valuable asset in a business. Our starting point is to build on the people who are already there and invest in them. If something needs to change, we do it transparently and in advance — never as a surprise.
We build on the brand and the culture.
Your company’s name, identity, and way of working are often exactly what made it successful. Our starting point is to build on that. Any changes happen in dialogue, and only when we mutually agree it is right.
We take our time.
We do not rush the process. We do not make quick changes during the first six months unless we both believe it is right. We listen, learn, and build trust before we change anything else.
My name is Joel Falck. I have built companies myself — KitchenTime as a co-founder, Babyshop as CEO when it needed to be saved, Planora as chair of the board. I know what it is to put a decade of your life into a company.
When I started Formverk it was because I saw a pattern: entrepreneurs who want to sell, but who meet buyers who do not understand what they have built. PE funds counting in Excel. Consolidators looking to squeeze costs. Competitors looking to shut things down.
I believe in another kind of buyer. One that takes over the company in order to build on it. One that builds on the people, the brand, and the culture — and is transparent when something needs to change. One that takes the time to understand before anything is altered.
One that, together with the founder or previous owners, develops the company to make it even more valuable before passing it on to a larger owner.
That is what Formverk tries to be. Get in touch if you would like to talk — I always reply myself.
Questions we often get from sellers.
-
Do I have to step away immediately?
On the contrary — we would prefer that you continue running the company together with us. Together we agree on how long you stay and in what role.
-
Will the team find out?
Only when you want them to. The entire process is confidential from the very first conversation. We do not speak with employees, customers, or suppliers until you say so.
-
What happens to our name and brand?
Our starting point is to build on it. The brand is often exactly what makes the company valuable. Any changes happen in dialogue, and only when we mutually agree it is right.
-
How long does the process take?
Typically three to six months from first conversation to closing. We can move faster if needed, but it matters that we both have time to get to know each other along the way.
-
How do you value the company?
We look at operating profit adjusted for one-off items, compare with what similar companies have been sold for, and weigh in qualitative factors like brand, customer base, and growth potential. We are transparent about our assumptions — you see exactly how we have thought.
-
Why should I choose Formverk over other buyers?
We believe we are a buyer who can preserve and continue developing what you have built to make it even more valuable. By selling to us and working together for a few years, you can make a better deal while gaining a thoughtful owner who can complement your specialist expertise with additional value-creating experience, networks, and capital.
